Punchlineis a 13 x 30 mins series, which in keeping with the current Reality TV trend, makes ordinary
people the stars. It follows the comedy club ethos that inspired countless thousands of people to get up off their lounges, stand up on stage and try to make other people laugh.
To be shot on Mondays during April- June 2007, Punchline will be broadcast on Aurora or TVS community channels.
To be shot in the studios of Randwick TAFE, each programme will be hosted by a presenter who will do
a few, quick-fire “ice-breakers” before introducing the three comedians who will be featured in each show.
Each comedian will be introduced by a quick location profile lasting about one minute, which will introduce
them, where they live, their lives and what inspires their comedy. This life can be real, fictious or fantasy, whatever best
represents who or what they are.
Each comedian will then deliver a 5-6 minute set to a “live” studio audience. The humour
will be no holds barred with the show aimed at a post 9pm, adult audience.
Punchline welcomes comedians of all styles and of all sexual religious, ethnic, political and
philosophical persuasions.
Punchline will be produced by the TV Production students at Randwick TAFE. While we have all
the resources to produce the series, there is no budget to pay the comedians. However, there is some remuneration for all
comedians featured in the series. Each performer will receive broadcast exposure plus an edited DVD copy of their segment,
plus the footage that ended up on the cutting-room floor, which they can use as a showreel, on MySpace or for other promotional
purposes.
